What it’s like being a member of RCYRUMC

One of the most interesting and pleasant ways to spend your time is being a member of the Red Crescent Youth in RUMC (RCY-RUMC) which most members find most rewarding. There is never a dull moment with members as there is always leadership practice, fun, community work, and sometimes adventure all thrown into one. Here is a picture of how it feels:

1.Volunteering:

Recently we had a program of BRTA which gave us the proper rules of transportation system. Here, the members of RCYRUMC worked together as a team to complete the program peacefully. They have done their job successfully with a proper manner.

2.First aid Course:

At the beginning of joining RCYRUMC, a course was taken on first aid which had so much benefit. They let us know about the basic first aid things on the first day and then the next day, they gave us practical teaching which can save one’s life.

3.Troop Meeting:

Usually in RCYRUMC, every week, there is a troop meeting which discusses about making different programs and session. Later on, the programs or sessions are held.

4.Session:

In RCYRUMC, usually there are many sessions taken about different topics which is crucial. Recently, a program by BRTA is held on Transportation, besides this we got sessions on first aids, about the RC/RC movement and leadership workshops.

5. Community Service:

Service is a crucial part of the RCY mission. Many members embark on community service projects, such as: improving local neighborhoods, environmental cleansing, awareness campaigns and social work. It is an active practice to help others while instilling a sense of responsibility and empathy in one’s self.

6.Leadership Development:

It is the vision of RCY to develop leadership through the range of activities, organized provision of communication, decision making, and problem solving. Members are encouraged to take leadership positions in the organization and such roles help build their confidence and experience that is important in other ventures later on.

7.Social Networking and Friendships:

Being a member of RCY-RUMC involves being part of a diverse group of young people who have similar ideals. As a result of the events and the initiatives, the members often develop friendships that last a lifetime and this makes them have a friendly social environment.

8. Adventure and Outdoor Activities:

RCYRUMC is trying to conduct their first ever camp this December along with the scouts. The camp is going to be organized by our very own unit, and this will ultimately help us to develop various skills.

9.Recognition and Achievement:

Different types of awards, certificates and other forms of recognitions are available for members of RCY-RUMC on their achievements in scouting, serving and leadership. These can also be used as an addition to one’s resume or portfolio, illustrating validation of self-improvement and community engagement.

10.Personal Growth:

Activity together with the service and challenges make RCY to become a stepping stone of helping the members in their pursuit of self-discovery. Most of the members believe that they become more focused and proactive in their endeavors, more disciplined, develop in them a strong sense of identity and purpose.

To sum up, RCY-RUMC is a platform where one can develop themselves socially and personally, have fun and serve people. If you are already a member, you are most probably part of a nurturing and a driven community with a distinct culture.
